A headphone stand that charges the headphones through a magnetic connector instead of a cable. It also acts as an antenna mount to improve wireless range.
01
Set it down and it charges
I wanted somewhere on my desk to set my wireless headset down that would also take care of charging it. Instead of plugging a cable into the headphones, they charge through a magnetic connector built into the stand, and each ear cup settles into a recess shaped around it.
02
A charger and an antenna mount
The magnetic connector sits at the bottom of one recess, so setting the headset down is all it takes to start charging. Between the recesses, a slot holds the headset’s wireless receiver upright, which makes the stand an antenna mount as well and improves the wireless range.
03
A board drawn by hand
The charging circuit runs on a small single-sided board that I drew by hand in Sharpie and etched in acid: the marker protects the copper traces while the acid eats away the rest.
