About
I am Sahil, and building things is my favorite way to learn.
I call myself a full-stack hardware engineer because I love owning a project from end to end. I sketch it, model it, design the circuit board, write the firmware, build the software that talks to it, and then use it every day until I figure out what the next version should be.

Making things that people actually use
Some of my favorite projects are small ones: a drawer organizer that gives every tool its own slot, a knife cover that lets the blade dry, and a laser-cut model of a friend's house that I built as a housewarming gift. Each one started with a real need, whether that was a tidier drawer, a drier blade, or the perfect housewarming gift.

ShiftKey
These days most of my time goes into ShiftKey, the modular keyboard I am building as a company. It pairs snap-on magnetic modules with a companion app, so one keyboard can turn into the right setup for whatever you are doing. It has been through several hardware versions, and you can scrub through them on the ShiftKey page.

Sharing what I learn
Verso, my robot arm, is open source so that students and teachers can build their own. The toroidal propeller study I co-authored is a public preprint. This site is my way of doing the same with everything else: flip any page to its X-ray and you will see how it works underneath.
Milestones
- 2018 Air pressure piston engine, my earliest project here, modeled in 3D.
- 2019 Concept renders exploring what future phones could look like.
- 2021 My earliest 3D printing projects here, including the RTX flash drive and the Lego Infinity Gauntlet.
- 2022 Laser cutting takes over, along with laser PCB etching.
- 2023 SystemHUD and the toroidal propeller study.
- 2024 Verso, the open-source robot arm.
- 2025 Mylar reflow stencils and the Micro Reel.
- 2026 A haptic dial controller built on an FPGA, while ShiftKey keeps growing.
